To Get There
Lanexa, Virginia is located roughly 20 miles east of Richmond along I-64. As the Area of Operations is private land, specific directions to the AO will be included with player packets only.
Camping will be allowed for Saturday night. Space is limited so please let Game Command know ASAP if you plan on camping.
Hotel and motel lodging can be found either in Richmond, Williamsburg, or New Kent with the later being closest. Several motels offer rooms in the $50-70 range. The following is a list of area motels that Game Command has personally checked out:
Washington Burgess Inn, 18940 Motel Dr., West Point, Virginia 23181. Ph. 804-843-2100. Basic clean motel that serves visitors to the Chesapeake Bay area. Nearby to many food establishments.
Econo Lodge Pottery, 7051 Richmond Rd., Williamsburg, VA 23188. Ph. 757-564-8668. Decent national chain motel that serves the Williamsburg and Busch Gardens clientele.
Days Inn Williamsburg Historical, 311 Bypass Rd., Williamsburg, VA 23185. Perhaps the farthest motel listed here from the AO (about 30 mi), it is located in downtown historic Williamsburg and serves visitors to the Colonial Williamsburg site, the College of Williams and Mary, and the numerous antique stores in the area. Perfect if you are traveling with WIFCOM.
There are several gas stations and grocery stores in the area as well if you need a location to buy food and/or water. As with motels, Game Command will list specific locations in the coming days.
Lions, tigers and bears... oh my!
The Lanexa AO is also home to many natural critters. There are ticks aplenty. Take the necessary precautions to prepare yourself. Insect repellant with DEET is highly recommended. Be sure to check yourself after the event for ticks. There are also non-poisonous snakes on the property that will move on once it knows there are big bad humans in the area. If you are in a troubled position with a snake, get word to Game Command who will then take care of the problem. Poison Ivy/Oak is almost non-existant at the AO.
If you have any pre-existing medical conditions or allergies, please let Game Command know ahead of time so they can be fully prepared in the event of a medical emergency. The AO is located right next to a firehouse so any emergency response will be immediate.
